Prevent. Protect. Respond. Recover.

News Room

The Public Affairs Office of the Idaho Office of Emergency Management (IOEM) provides accurate, timely, and important information to the media, and the public about issues relating to natural or man-made disasters in the state. Public Affairs staff also conduct ongoing outreach efforts to ensure that Idahoans are knowledgeable about preparedness measures that can save lives and property during any kind of emergency. The IOEM Public Affairs Officer is the lead PIO for Idaho’s Public Information Emergency Response Team. (PIER)

Public Affairs outreach efforts are achieved using a variety of methods including television, print, social media and WebEOC - the information sharing platform used by IOEM and all Idaho counties and Tribes. The Public Affairs office promotes awareness of emergency management efforts in Idaho as well as issues involving the safety of Idaho citizens. Public Information Officers (PIOs) are a critically important link between the organizations for whom they work and the communities they serve. PIOs are tasked with informing the public about services and programs that can affect their lives. Our mission is to provide the right information to the right people at the right time.
