The Idaho Office of Emergency Management (IOEM) Grants Branch conducts grant management activities and coordinates resources before, during, and after a disaster. As the State Administrative Agency (SAA) for many preparedness, mitigation and disaster federal grant programs, IOEM Grants allocates most of the federal funding it receives to local jurisdictions, first responders, and tribes to sustain and supplement local emergency management and homeland security programs. The IOEM Logistics Section is responsible for coordinating the purchase of Homeland Security Grant equipment, the Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse (HDER) program and disaster logistics needs.
FEMA is the designated federal agency for overseeing preparedness and disaster grants.
FEMA provides state and local governments with preparedness program funding in the form of Non-Disaster Grants. These grants provide funding that support building, sustaining and delivering essential emergency management capabilities. Funding is provided for eligible prevention, preparedness and response activities including equipment, planning, training, exercise, and management and administrative functions throughout the State of Idaho.
Available Non-Disaster Grants in Idaho:
Disaster grants are made available when the Idaho Office of Emergency Management requests through FEMA, and the President of the United States declares, a major disaster or emergency. Based on the extent of damage and declaration type, assistance may be available to State, Tribal and local governments, certain private non-profit organizations, and/or individuals, with the goal of quick and efficient recovery from the event.
